The Middle East Conflict is heavily documented by advocates for a particular position. Few writers for any position are innocent. They intend to drive people emotionally to the authors point view. For someone seeking understanding, this is a put off - a barrier to understanding. It's rightly called propaganda.

Recognizing propaganda is sometimes easy. Is the author appealing to emotion or to intellect? Is the information fact based? Is it balanced? Is it offered from a neutral point of view (NPOV)? Does the author demonize people with whom he differs?

This is not to argue against having a point of view, but for having enough respect for the reader to present the facts and leave room for the reader to form his or her own opinion.

Finding peace in the Middle East is an intractable problem. Finding information that contributes to understanding, or ideas that add to the useful store of possibilities seems all to rare.

This article is a useful step. It helps to inform the reader. It provides a factual underpinning for the author's opinion.
