Decades ago, while enjoying a successful career in a strong economy, I took time to rail against big government and high taxes. It was a popular refrain at the time. My father, who had scraped through the Great Depression as an adult, replied softly, "I can remember when I paid no taxes." His gentle rebuke has never been far from my mind.
If the President-elect succeeds in solving the number one problem which led to his election, we will see, in order, a huge increase in national debt, a robust economy, and high taxes. Consider the alternative.
