Governments have two fundamental duties, they must protect their citizens, and they must control them. The recent barbaric and criminal acts in Mumbai are a call to duty. Pakistan must recognize it's duty to control Lashkar-e-Taiba, the Islamic terror group originating in Pakistan that appears to be the source of the attack on Mumbai. Failing this India will seek to protect it's citizens and the tension with Pakistan will rise, perhaps to heights unimaginable for nuclear nations.

Escalation of hostilities between these countries will result in a distraction from the hostilities in Pakistan's border region with Afghanistan, and an increased terrorism in Afghanistan.
