An apology. It's become easy to lump the responsibility for a great many wrongs on an entire class of people. Implicit in both my remarks and many of the referenced postings is an argument of the form all (blank) are (blank). If a member of a group commits an improper act it's easy to blame all members of that group. It's also thoughtless and careless and demeaning to good people who happen to belong to that group. Given the nature of this blog, the Administration and it's many Congressional supporters have been much maligned as such a group. That group is over inclusive, hence this mea culpa. Here's a thoughtful report on some people serving in the the Administration and elsewhere who chose to swim upstream. The real list of conscience driven people who may have or perhaps still serve our country is certainly much longer. It is a sad commentary that many of them are no longer there.
